The Digital Signage Best Practice Award goes into the next round

Digital Signage Best Practice AwardState-of-the-art digital signage projects, plus creative ideas and implementations: Every year, the Digital Signage Best Practice Award recognises Europe’s top projects. As the only event of its kind that aims to evaluate projects comprehensively, the prestigious award – presented for the eighth time already – long ago became the industry benchmark. The application deadline for the 2014 edition of the award is 29 August.

Getting Europe-wide attention might well be the most persuasive argument in favour of participating in the Digital Signage Best Practice Award: Nominees as well as winners will be presented in-depth at viscom. With its strong digital signage area, the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication presents the largest selection of exemplary applications anywhere in Europe and offers cross-sectoral networking opportunities to award participants. Some 13,000 visitors are expected to attend the event at the Exhibition Centre Frankfurt from 5 to 7 November, among them brand manufacturers and distributors, manufacturing and retail marketing decision-makers, and agencies. Moreover, both nominees and winners can look forward to extensive media coverage.

New: “Meet the Nominees”

A digital signage speed-dating event for all nominees: “Meet the Nominees” will take place the night before viscom. This new networking event is an opportunity for all nominees to introduce themselves to a select group of interested attendees. Hosted by a moderator, the speed-dating event lets an exclusive circle of participants learn more about each project – from its creation to its implementation – while project managers stand by to answer questions. The event predominantly targets brand manufacturers and distributors as well as agencies and project managers. This unique networking event, with its practical approach and direct connection to the trade fair, is perfect for anyone currently designing, expanding or refreshing digital signage projects.

Categories and criteria

The Digital Signage Best Practice Award honours projects that reach a set of defined objectives thanks to their overall concept, their content being aligned with the medium, the placement, selection and design of their displays, and the way their displays are controlled and monitored. Defined goals depend on the application and may include providing directional guidance, imparting information or promoting sales.

There are four categories altogether: Retail Signage – applications for retail spaces, Information Signage – applications showing information on public displays, Guiding Signage – applications as guidance systems in public spaces, and Interactive Signage – innovative applications incorporating interactive components. In each category, three submissions will be nominated and showcased in an exclusive area at viscom in Frankfurt. From these twelve projects, a jury will select one winner per category. The award will be presented jointly to the client and the provider. Additionally, the jury has the option of awarding a special prize for outstanding innovative solutions.

The applications deadline is 29 August 2014. Digital signage projects are eligible if they’ve been implemented after 1 January 2013 and mostly completed by 31 July 2014 (at least 80% rollout). Applications must be submitted through this link:
